Training on Planning and Budgeting for the Replication of Literacy Reading-Writing Programs in Papua

On September 13-14, 2023, the Nusantara Sejati Foundation organized a Training on Planning and Budgeting for the Replication of Literacy Reading-Writing Programs in Papua. The event took place at the Aston Sorong Hotel in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, and was attended by representatives from the Education Agency and Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) from various regions, including Kaimana Regency, Fakfak Regency, Manokwari Regency, Teluk Bintuni Regency, Sorong Regency, Sorong City, South Sorong Regency, and Raja Ampat Regency.

In this training on Planning and Budgeting for the Replication of Literacy Reading-Writing Programs in Papua, the Nusantara Sejati Foundation presented best practices from the Literacy Reading-Writing Intervention Program that has been implemented. Additionally, training participants engaged in discussions about the opportunities for planning literacy reading-writing programs, discussions on Education Quality Reports and Minimum Education Service Standards in Papua, the integration of Literacy Reading-Writing Programs into the Regional Government Work Plan (RENJA) documents, and simulations for budget planning by each district.

As a result of this training, Kaimana Regency and Fakfak Regency have committed to allocate funds to support literacy reading and writing programs. Meanwhile, Southwest Papua Province has also committed to budget for the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) baseline survey activities in five regencies in the Southwest Papua region.
