On Monday, October 16, 2023, the YNS team, along with DFAT and UNICEF, conducted an observational visit on GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) at SD YPK Kanda to observe the approach to teaching students with varying abilities.
During this visit, the YNS, UNICEF, and DFAT teams held discussions with the School Committee and parent representatives regarding the obstacles or challenges faced by children at home, which are the reasons for their school absenteeism. Focus Group Discussions were also conducted with six female school principals and active teachers concerning challenges in female leadership, gender issues, sexual violence, bullying, and discrimination that have occurred, and the responses in addressing such cases.
These discussion and FGD activities were carried out with the hope that school officials can effectively implement GEDSI within the school environment, allowing students to comfortably engage in the teaching and learning process.
